‘Britain’s first fully organic nursery - First Learning - was set up in Shepperton, Middlesex in January this year and already looks after 63 babies and children aged three months to five years Kimberly Foster set up the day-care centre "to prove it could be done and that it would be competitive on price". All the food given to children is organic and staff use environmentally friendly cleaning products and biodegradable nappies. "As long as there is organic food available to adults, I see no excuse for not giving it to children" says Foster’

We were contacted by the BBC in recognition of becoming the first nursery child care provision in the country to be registered Organic. We gained  agreement from all our parents to allow a small BBC crew in to the nursery to film ‘a day in the life of’ First Learning.
From 7.30am on the 7th April 2004 the BBC recorded live news reports.
They interviewed Parents when they dropped their children off at nursery.  The parents said they were delighted to find a nursery to offer a healthy alternative for their children, backed up by Soil Association certification.
The BBC conducted a detailed interview with Kimberley televised on all news bulletins that day. Kimberley also carried out a telephone interview for BBC Radio News
Kimberley discussed with the BBC how and why First Learning was set up. Kimberley talked about how important organic food is, especially to children and as it is so widely available all nurseries and schools should serve healthy organic food on their menus too.
